DUFRESNE, Michel

Michel Dufresne was born October 26, 1960 and studied in engineering design. At a younger age, he has a passion for handicrafts with various materials, such as wood or steel. He only needed to draw a simple sketch of a piece of furniture or anything else, and in a short time the ideas turned into concrete projects. Having grown up in the countryside, Michel has always been a nature lover, and being close to animals, he spent a good part of his life in the equestrian world. For the last decade, he regularly attended exhibitions where he met many artists and a good number of sculptors. Inquisitive by nature, he started to model clay based on his observation and discovered a new passion as a sculptor.
In a short time, the combination of media knowledge, creativity, as well as good advice from peer sculptors took all its forms, and majestics birds of prey became his favourite subject. Today established in Saint-Colomban, in the lower Laurentian mountains, Michel now has his own foundry for bronze since August 2017 and produces his own artworks. He exhibited in a few places "Meeting of the Arts" of St – Jean on the Richelieu River and also in the "Printemps de la sculpture” in the town of Sainte-Adèle, where he finished as the 2nd favourite artist chosen by the public. His work is showcased at the “Gallery of the Manoir Richelieu" in the city of La Malbaie.
