Gagné, Christine

Contemporary artist Christine Gagne was born in Montreal in 1966. From an early age, she stands out through her creative talent and her skill in fine arts.
After completing fashion design studies at LaSalle College in Montreal, she began a career in the apparel industry and moved to Los Angeles. During her 9 years in the United States, she devotes her spare time to explore various art forms in a self-taught way in modeling clay, bronze’s lost wax process, stained glass, jewellery and pottery.

It was during this period that she discovered a passion for sculpture. She attended several specialised classes in the United States, Canada and Europe in order to combine her personal know-how with those of masters in bronze casting, stone carving and jewellery fabrication.

Today, Christine Gagne is back home in Canada. Her personal figurative style has emerged over time, exposing abundant emotions, movement and femininity. Her works of art result as a reflection over the presence and influence of women in all cultural contexts. Her muses lend themselves to role-playing, emerging from a folklore or a cultural tradition; Messengers of a season, a time period or a mythical universe.
The artist works with various media which also includes paintings however, her bronze collection is the most accomplished works from her production, skilfully rendering the delicate and feminine details which are so specific and identifiable to her art.

Awarded by the Academy of Art, Science and letter of Paris with a silver medal in June 2017, inducted by the Institute of Arts figuratifs of Quebec, and member of several highly recognized art associations, Christine Gagne has received numerous prizes and honors in Canada, in Europe and in the United States.
