BASQUE (1927-2016) *

The artist Leonard Parent Basque simply known as Basque, was born in Trois-Pistoles (1927-2016) in the Lower St. Lawrence, in 1927. It was after studies in philosophy and theology that Basque developed an interest for painting. Great expert in technical and historical level of painting which will stands out in his works. In 1957, he made his first solo exhibition that soon inform the public and the art world. At the year of 1974, he takes a tough decision to settle down in Rimouski and live through his art. All his life will be devoted for the arts community in the Rimouski region where he also taught plastic art for many years. Leonard has always encouraged future generations. He also opened his own gallery the same year he moved to this town, helping beginners evolve.
In addition to his experience, he leaves a large and varied corpus that reflects his long and successful career as a painter.
